Ever grateful to call this sophisticated, architecturally refined city home.
When I first moved to DC back in 2017, my world existed between Logan Circle and Dupont Circle, and neighborhoods like Old Town and even Capitol Hill felt like distant islands on my horizon. I would hear about corners like Kalorama and Woodley Park, pockets tucked above and within the folds of buzzier neighborhoods like Georgetown and Adams Morgan, but without a car or a reason to walk by, my geographic understanding of DC remained short sighted.
Now, after years of repeatedly strolling the streets of both the well-travelled and less-travelled neighborhoods, I couldnāt imagine living anywhere else (except, always, Paris). Many describe DC as one big small town, and I wholeheartedly agree. There is so much more to DC than Georgetown and The White House, and I hope that in each of these neighborhood notes, you might find a bit of the unexpected.
If you are planning a move to DC, whether for a short stay or the long term, do send me an email ā Iāll pass along my neighborhood guide to point you towards my favorite places in town, and am happy to be a resource as you take steps towards your next chapter.
Neighborhoods I love:
