Recommendation / Tatte Bakery

If you have visited Boston, you might be familiar with this bright and airy, all-day eatery; what began in 2007 as a humble bakery with a self-trained pastry chef at the helm has grown into a boutique-cafe chain, with 16 locations across Massachusetts and now, one (to be 3 in due time) in DC. The design of the space - walls covered in subway tile, ceilings dripping with edison bulbs, floors wrapped with mosaic tiles - is a refreshing change of pace in a city whose culinary prowess has steadily gained momentum over the past 10 years, with the interior design and architecture catching up as well. Regardless of the beauty of the space, stop by Tatte for a house latte, made with honey halve and cardamom, a pastry or three from a case that is overflowing with flavor (their morning buns are !!), and Israeli-inspired entrees like shakshuka and halloumi breakfast sandwiches. There is something for everyone in this elegant and inviting cafe - you’ll be making plans to return before you’ve finished your meal.
